Cox challenges AT&T by bringing 1 Gig service to Wichita, Kansas

Cox Communications has launched its 1 Gbps 'G1gablast' residential service in Wichita, Kansas, laying a challenge to incumbent telco AT&T (NYSE: T). Similar to other 1 Gbps deployments the MSO has made, Cox will deploy the residential gigabit service to new developments in Wichita. Today, the G1gablast service is available in 12 states with plans to have gigabit speeds in all of its markets by end of the year.

Eligible customers that subscribe to the 1 Gbps service will get a new high-speed router, 1 TB of cloud storage, Cox Security Suite and Family Protection and 10 email boxes each with 15 GB of storage. Cox said it will demonstrate the service at community events throughout the region and at its retail Cox Solutions Stores. Release
