Macomnet Delivers Dark Fiber Pairs to IXcellerate (Russia): Data Center Phase I Progresses on Schedule

Dark fibers are generally favored for various reasons such as scalability, economics, control and flexibility. A single pair can support as much as 400Gig of lit transport capacity to accommodate future growth. With a dark fiber network, IXcellerate will have a virtually unlimited capacity with dedicated infrastructure to improve reliability and performance.

IXcellerate is a data center project founded by Guy Willner (Founder and former CEO of IXEurope, former President Europe for Equinix Inc.), and Cliff Gauntlett (Former SVP of Golden Telecom). The project will encompass the construction and operation of a 6,200 square metre, carrier neutral data centre in Moscow set on a 15,000 square metre campus. The data center will be built over three phases, with the first 1000 square metres planned to be in operation in Q4 2012. IXcellerate is the Russian Alliance Member of the (IDC-G). See
