SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- AirHop Communications, the leader in software enabling the next wave of the mobile Internet, today announced the appointment of Mike Iandolo as AirHop’s newest advisory board member.

Iandolo was most recently president of Alcatel-Lucent’s Wireless Networks Division, having held various product management and general management positions within Alcatel-Lucent and Lucent Technologies and leading key wireless businesses including CDMA, WCDMA, and AirLoop, a proprietary fixed wireless product. From 2000 through 2008 he directed the CDMA business, where he led the successful launch of more than 100 new products and the introduction of significant technology generations, including 3G1X voice and packet data and EV/DO high-speed data. During this time period, Iandolo grew the CDMA business to the number one market position within the industry.

“I am excited about the group we are assembling,” said Yan Hui, CEO of AirHop. “Top industry leaders like Mike significantly strengthen our team via strategic input and tier-1 executive experience, both of critical importance in the coming months as we roll out into the market.”

“One of the most critical wireless challenges we face today is enabling the industry to surf the mobile data tsunami,” stated Mike Iandolo. “I agree with AirHop’s vision that advanced intelligence for the radio access network is the key, and I’m proud to be part of the AirHop team.”

Iandolo joins AirHop’s rapidly-expanding collection of seasoned wireless industry veterans, including Adrian Nemcek, Perry LaForge and John McDonough.
