AOL CEO To Address Nashville Technology Council Members
Tim Armstrong, whose career spans ESPN, Google, and now AOL will share his strategies for competing in a global digital economy
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Nashville Technology Council announced to its members that Tim Armstrong, Chairman and CEO of AOL Inc. (NYSE: AOL), will headline the organization’s annual membership event titled “Smarter Planet. Smarter You” to be held on January 18, 2011. Prior to joining AOL, Armstrong oversaw North American and Latin American advertising sales, marketing and operations teams as President of The Americas at Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) and has more than 16 years experience in new media and Internet related ventures. Recently, Armstrong’s company AOL has been in the news for its acquisitions of the promising social identity startup about.me and the high-definition content distribution platform Pictela, Inc. AOL has local ties as an owner of Nashville-based StudioNow, Inc. which was acquired by the company in January of this year.
The Nashville Technology Council annual membership event is being held from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Boone Business Building at Trevecca University. Also included in the event programming is speaker Mike Svinte, Vice President of IBM’S Smarter Cities and Healthcare, as well as a special video presentation and update on the state of the Nashville technology community.
