Capella Announces CR50 Telcordia Qualification
CR50 with Integrated Optical Channel Monitor Shows Reliability of Module
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Capella, the leading provider of wavelength selective switch (WSS) technologies for use in reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) and optical cross connects, today announced the qualification of its CR50 with integrated optical channel monitor in accordance with Telcordia and other worldwide standards. Capella’s CR50 modules have met all environmental, mechanical and operational stress tests set forth in GR-468, GRT-1312, GR-63 CORE, ETS 300 and other appropriate or required standards.
Harvey Trop, Capella’s VP of Quality and Reliability stated, “This achievement is a critical step in widespread acceptance of the CR50 by telecom equipment manufacturers. Additionally, it’s a significant testament to the reliability of the Capella design.”
“Telcordia qualification is a significant milestone and it enables Capella’s customers to confidently move forward with planned network deployments,” commented Shoa-Kai Liu, Senior Advisor at Rustic Canyon Partners and former Director of Network Development at MCI. “Reliability is a key component of Capella’s value system, and the completion of this qualification demonstrates the success of the Company’s reliability processes as a whole.”
The CR50 with integrated OCM offers the best performing 9x1 or 1x9 WSS in the industry. The CR50 features the widest passbands and lowest insertion loss, maximizing cascading nodes and minimizing amplification costs. The integrated OCM provides a power monitoring subsystem with Capella’s patented Wavelength Connectivity Confirmation. Further, the system ensures optimal performance and reliability over all operating conditions. This functionality has now successfully passed through the required worldwide standards.
