Fully Customizable Systems Are Optimized for High-Density Carrier Ethernet Services

SUZHOU, Jiang Su Province, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Centec Networks, a leading innovator of carrier-grade IP/Ethernet switching silicon and advanced ODM/OEM system solutions, today introduced two switches for carrier-class access/aggregation and modular routing applications. The systems are fully customizable and combine carrier-class redundancy and ring protection for high-density applications in metro access/aggregation and core networks. The E310 and E810 enable OEMs to improve time to market and minimize R&D resources while providing carriers the latest Carrier Ethernet systems to deploy packet based services.

“Centec is uniquely positioned to enable cost-effective Carrier Ethernet systems powered by our high-performance chipsets,” said Tao Gu, chief technology officer (CTO) with Centec Networks. “Additionally, our team in China is equipped to deliver rigorously tested and extremely cost-effective engineering services backed by strong domain knowledge, ensuring that customers can optimize system features and optimize competitive differentiation. Our latest systems exemplify Centec’s commitment to giving customers a robust platform that speeds time-to-market and reduces development costs for high-performance, feature-rich access/aggregation and modular routing systems.”

Centec’s compact E310 access/aggregation system supports Layer 2 and 3 Virtual Private Network (VPN) requirements and implements all Quality of Service (QoS), security and Ethernet Operation, Administration and Management (OAM) protocols that are necessary for advanced Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) services. The E810 modular routing switch delivers wire-speed performance for IP and MPLS packet processing with advanced Metro Ethernet OAM management capabilities, and incorporates a broad range of redundancy protection features into a high density, environmentally-friendly chassis design with a high-conversion-rate power supply to optimize energy efficiency. Centec’s highly experienced development team will work closely with OEM/ODM partners to customize both systems for special feature requirements. The E310 family will also include environmentally-hardened versions.

Product Details

Centec’s E310 and E810 systems are Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-9 and 14 certification-ready carrier-grade Ethernet access/aggregation switching systems that provide rich metro features and are optimized for advanced QoS (including hierarchical QoS), Ethernet OAM efficiency, and L2/L3 VPN and Virtual Private LAN (VPLS) functionality. The E310 is packaged into a compact, 250mm-deep chassis, making it ideal for narrow spaces such as 300mm-deep shelves in small equipment rooms. The E310 system simplifies deployment and maintenance by providing front-panel access to all service ports, power wires and management interfaces. It features a mixed DC/AC dual power supply design and is available in five configurations.

For modular routing applications, Centec’s E810 system will be able to support eight 10 Gigabit per second (10G) Small Form Factor Pluggable + (SFP+) ports per line card, or a total of 128 10G ports for an entire system. The E810 delivers 1:1 redundancy for all critical parts, as well as hardware-level redundancy protection. The family also will include hot standby supervisor cards and the ability to perform non-stop packet forwarding during switchover.

Pricing and Availability

The E310 access/aggregation switching system is available now and has been deployed in field trials by service providers in North America, Europe, Russia and Southeast Asia. The E810 modular routing system will be available later this quarter. Pricing for the family begins at $1,308 for the E310 system in OEM volumes of 1,000.
