Comtrend Corporation Licenses Sorenson Spark Video Decoder for Use in Multimedia Set Top Boxes

Inclusion of Sorenson Spark Provides Comtrend’s Multimedia Set Top Boxes Access to Largest Library of Internet Video

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sorenson Media today announced that Comtrend Corporation, a global provider of advanced network products, has licensed the Sorenson Spark video decoder for inclusion in the company’s new line of set top boxes for Swiss Telecom. Sorenson Spark will enable the set top boxes to play the widest selection of videos available on the Internet.

Sorenson Spark is the industry’s most ubiquitous video codec and was the first codec used in Macromedia Flash, now Adobe Flash. The decoder exclusively enables the playback of hundreds of millions of videos on the Internet, including those on YouTube, the single largest online video destination today.

Comtrend designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of DSL-based network and communications solutions and will incorporate the Sorenson Spark video decoder into set top boxes for Swiss Telecom that deliver broadband TV, Video on Demand (VoD), Internet and streaming of video and data services over IP networks.
