ADTRAN MSAP Flexibility Paves Way for Service Migration and Enhanced Broadband Services Delivery

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ADTRAN®, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that Consolidated Telephone, a provider of integrated communications services to businesses and residents in central Nebraska, has selected ADTRAN’s flagship product, the Total Access® 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) for its network migration.

Consolidated Telephone selected ADTRAN for its network upgrade based on the flexibility and scalability of the Total Access 5000 platform. The all-Ethernet based Total Access 5000 provides the ability to offer both fiber and copper services from a single platform along with integrated voice support for legacy and converged services. The Total Access 5000 MSAP solves the key challenges for modernizing existing networks by easily accommodating 10 Gbps transport rings, supporting Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) access, migrating existing ATM connections to Ethernet transport, and doing all of this under a single management system—the Total Access EMS.

“ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 allows us to efficiently migrate from our legacy network to immediately offer new, revenue-generating services to our customer base,” said Jason Axthelm, CTO, Consolidated Telephone. “Going forward, the Total Access 5000 will enable us to offer a variety of next-generation services, enhance our broadband portfolio and protect our investments for years to come.”

Using the Total Access 5000 service providers, like Consolidated Telephone, can easily migrate legacy services from existing DSLAMs to offer enhanced broadband. In addition, the flexibility of the Total Access 5000 enables carriers to aggregate T1 connections from traditional Digital Loop Carriers (DLCs) using pseudowire technology providing the quickest conversion path to the Ethernet core. This allows the provider to deliver enhanced access services, while enabling the use of efficient Ethernet transport. These benefits, when combined with the provisioning tools included in the Total Access management system, result in increased revenues, lower operational cost and expedited ROI for the service provider.

“We are pleased Consolidated Telephone has selected the Total Access 5000 for its network migration,” said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN. “The Total Access 5000 is an ideal solution for service providers such as Consolidated which seek a flexible, cost-effective solution to protect their existing assets, make the transition to Ethernet and deliver a wide array of next-generation services.”
