Cordova Wireless and Other Operators to Highlight Tecore’s Broadband Mobile Solutions at Alaska Telephone Association Show
Visit Tecore at ATA Booth #12, October 27-28, 2010
COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Tecore Networks, a global supplier of multi-technology 2G, 3G and 4G mobile network infrastructure, today announced that Cordova Wireless, serving Cordova and the Copper River region, will discuss its recent deployment of Tecore’s broadband mobile core and radio access networks at the Alaska Telephone Association Showcase, October 27-28 in Anchorage. Tecore executives will welcome visitors to Booth #12 to view next-generation products including the 3G Rural Village System, and to discover how Tecore can deliver sophisticated, cost-effective solutions and world-class support as experienced by Cordova Wireless and other major operators in the state.
Tecore’s comprehensive product portfolio includes:
- iCore®, the carrier-grade 2G-3G-4G core network (UMSC, EPC, MSC / VLR, HLR / HSS, AuC / AC, SMSC / MMSC, Prepaid IN) deployable on a range of hardware platforms including compact-PCI, microTCA and ATCA; or delivered to the operator as a cloud-based service.
- iBSS®, a range of radio access network (RAN) products, including the quad-band GSM Super-Capacity RAN as well as the scalable GSM Mini RAN.
- Rural Village System (RVS), a compact and complete mobile communication core and RAN system designed to cost-effectively serve hundreds to several thousand subscribers, operating as an extension of an operator's main network but capable of functioning independently in the event of backhaul issues.
Cordova Wireless previously transitioned its iCore platform to an all-IP architecture to allow for future upgrades to LTE via software plug-ins, and expanded its iBSS RAN. The company has now taken the next step in its network evolution by optimizing GPRS / EDGE broadband data on the GSM network and installing additional Super-Capacity RAN.
“Mobile operators worldwide are facing challenging economic conditions, a spike in demand for broadband data, and uncertainty about the most effective network technology. In Alaska, these challenges are compounded by the need to provide roaming to a large transient population on different technologies, and the extreme physical environmental conditions faced by operators,” said Jay Salkini, President and Chief Executive Officer, Tecore Networks. “We are pleased to be the vendor of choice for several major operators in this great state, and look forward to having Cordova Wireless join us to show others how our solutions can meet their requirements across a range of technologies, geographies and subscriber characteristics.”
