CWA Verizon Workers, Supporters, Allies to Rally in Northern Virginia

ANNANDALE, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Members of the Communications Workers of America and allies in the labor and progressive communities in northern Virginia will rally to support workers and their families who are on strike at Verizon. CWA President Larry Cohen will be with the northern Virginia strikers.

From Virginia to New England, 45,000 union workers are on strike to convince Verizon to get serious about bargaining a fair contract. Since negotiations began June 22 through today, Verizon has not backed off of demands of $1 billion from workers. That’s $20,000 a year per worker.

“When Verizon demonstrates that it’s serious about bargaining, CWA members are prepared to go back to work,” said Jim Hilleary, president of CWA Local 2222.

What:     Rally to support striking Verizon workers in northern Virginia
When: Monday, Aug. 15, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Where:

Broad Run High School, at the intersection of Ashburn Road and Waxpool Road, Ashburn, VA.
