Company named as a Deloitte “Rising Star” and to the “Streaming Media 100”

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- EdgeCast Networks, the world’s fastest and most reliable content delivery network (CDN), today announced it had been recognized by Streaming Media magazine for its technology leadership, and by Deloitte for its significant revenue growth over the previous three years.

EdgeCast was named to Deloitte’s 2011 “Technology Rising Stars” list, which recognizes fast-growing private technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies that have been in business three or four years, and is based on percentage revenue growth from 2008 to 2010. EdgeCast was one of just three companies in the Los Angeles area named as a “Rising Star.”

In evaluating candidates for the Streaming Media 100, the magazine polled its staff and contributing editors for their initial lists of companies they felt should be included in the top 100. Among these, the judges discussed and debated the relative merits of each, until arriving at a final list. The magazine considered the entire online video ecosystem, including content creation and production, ingest and encoding, distribution, syndication, and monetization.

“We’re honored to be among such great companies on Deloitte’s list, and we’re very excited to have our hard work recognized by such an esteemed organization,” said Alex Kazerani, CEO of EdgeCast Networks. “Further, our respect for the Streaming Media team and the companies they’re exposed to every day make being named to the Streaming Media 100 equally exciting.”

“The companies in the Streaming Media 100 represent many different pieces of the online video ecosystem,” says Streaming Media editor Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen, “but they all have one thing in common: The world of online video today would be markedly different without any of them. Each one, in its own way, has made the online video industry what it is today and is pushing it towards the future.”

Streaming Media said the magazine’s goal was to create a list of companies that are the most important, most innovative, and have had the most impact on the space in the recent past and are likely to continue to do so in the future.
