Feature-Rich Huawei Modem Now Available on Cricket’s All-Inclusive ‘True Rate’ Service Plans

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cricket Communications Inc., a leading provider of innovative and value-driven wireless services and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leap Wireless International, Inc. (NASDAQ:LEAP), today announced the immediate availability of the new Cricket EC1705 modem from Huawei. Weighing in at less than an ounce, the innovative new compact device brings connection ease for any laptop or desktop computer user on Cricket’s all 3G network.

Starting today, Cricket will offer the EC1705 device at a suggested MSRP of $64.99. It will be paired with a variety of unlimited, all-inclusive broadband service plan options. At launch, the device will be available in Cricket branded retail stores and dealers in select cities including Chicago, Denver, St. Louis, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego, San Antonio, South Texas, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh and www.mycricket.com. The device will be available in all Cricket retail outlets soon. The sleek modem is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7, as well as Mac OS X10.4.11 to 10.6.3 (both 32 and 64 bit), and will come equipped with 32 MB of hard disk space and 128 MB of memory.

Ranging from $40 to $60 per month per plan, all users on the new device will be able to access Cricket’s reliable 3G network which provides download speeds up to 1.4 Mbps. In addition, customers will be receiving the newly announced “true rate” plans, which offer a flat-rate monthly service charge that includes all taxes and fees, except applicable local sales tax.
