Glimmerglass Secures USDA Rural Utilities Service Listing, Offers Telcos Reduced OPEX Via Intelligent Optical Systems

Program Qualifies Glimmerglass Deployments by Service Providers in Rural Communities, Enabling Delivery of High Bandwidth Services at Lower Cost

HAYWARD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Glimmerglass Networks, the leading supplier of intelligent optical layer management solutions, today announced that its product family of Intelligent Optical Systems has passed the “Buy American Requirement” set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is included in the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) List of Materials. The Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Systems 100, 500, and 600 gained RUS acceptance and are included in the RUS List of Materials. The products are now acceptable for use in telecommunications systems of RUS borrowers and can be deployed under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

The Community Connect Grant program provides financial assistance to eligible applicants that will provide broadband in unserved areas to provide public safety services and foster economic growth. The American Recover and Reinvestment Act appropriated $2.5 billion to RUS to extend broadband networks to unserved and underserved communities nationwide.
