Infonetics Research: NAC appliance market rebounds, but standalone appliances remain niche opportunity
Campbell, CALIFORNIA, May 10, 2011-Market research firm Infonetics Research today released excerpts from its NAC Enforcement Appliances report, which tracks and forecasts the network access control appliance market.
"2010 was a solid rebound year for NAC enforcement appliances. The market saw double-digit annual growth, and by 2013, we expect revenue to surpass the market's peak in 2008. Cisco is the clear market leader, but smaller vendors like Avenda, ForeScout, and Bradford carried the market in the back half of the year," notes Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for security at Infonetics Research.
NAC MARKET HIGHLIGHTS
. Many companies are looking for NAC functionality to be included in infrastructure purchases in their next refresh cycle, or they plan to solve NAC problems with software or management, shifting some of the NAC opportunity away from the discrete standalone appliance market
. Sequential growth in NAC enforcement appliance revenue was modest in 3Q10 and 4Q10, but because the market did so well in the first half of the year, worldwide NAC sales jumped 17% for the full 2010 year
. North America still represents the largest and most organized opportunity for NAC
