Application Performance Management Solution Adopted to Ensure Network Capacity and Performance for World’s Largest Sporting Event

PARIS & HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- InfoVista (Euronext IFV-FR0004031649), global leader of proactive service assurance software solutions, today announced that Telkom, Africa’s largest integrated communications provider and the National Supporter for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, has adopted InfoVista’s solutions for Application Performance Management to ensure optimal application performance and bandwidth requirement management. As the national supporter of this year’s World Cup, Telkom has committed its network technology to provide support for the broadcast of all games during the month long event, and enable the interconnection of important event venues, including the ten FIFA World Cup stadiums; broadcast compounds; media centers; the International Broadcast Centre; and the FIFA headquarter locations.

Telkom is among the first service providers to take Carrier Grade application acceleration to market in Africa. Leveraging Cisco’s Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) and Network Analysis Module (NAM), InfoVista’s solution makes it possible for Telkom to deliver uninterrupted coverage of the event and seamless connectivity throughout. Additionally, Telkom plans to offer application acceleration as a service to its VPN enterprise customers, enabling them to reduce operating expense for bandwidth and increase return on investment.

“InfoVista is proud that Telkom has chosen our solution to provide the critical visibility and reporting needed to ensure application performance for this historic World Cup event,” said Pete Shah, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Field Operations at InfoVista. This validates the unified application and network performance management approach brought by InfoVista to the business service provider market, already adopted by major communication service providers around the globe.

The football World Cup is the largest single sporting event in the world with a cumulative audience of more than 26 billion. The 2010 FIFA World Cup, which is taking place from June 11 through July 11, 2010, is the first to be held in the African continent, and Telkom will contribute significantly to the event by delivering it to the nation and the world through its fixed-line telecommunications infrastructure.
