Ipanema Announces Application SLA Enforcement for Cloud-Based Applications and Unveils Its Cloud-Ready Network Vision
Innovator in WAN Governance announces immediate delivery of ANS™ 7.0 enabling guaranteed SaaS application performance over the WAN and provides its vision for end-to-end cloud application SLAs
PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ipanema Technologies today announced that ANS™ (Autonomic Networking System™) 7.0 is now available to guarantee application performance as enterprises roll out SaaS projects.
ANS 7.0 guarantees the performance of critical applications and maintains business continuity while enterprises migrate their key applications to the cloud. Enhancements to ANS 7.0 include native SLA enforcement for popular SaaS applications such as Google Apps, Microsoft® Office 365, IBM®LotusLive™ and SalesForce®. Enhancements to SALSA, the ANS multi-tenant management platform, include central application performance dashboards (including an iPhone/iPad version) able to monitor the performance of SaaS applications. Also announced is the new ip|engine 20 – the first appliance designed for unification of high-speed hybrid MPLS and Internet networks at branch locations.
The new ip|engine 20 brings intelligence to the branch to manage the convergence of in-house and cloud based applications. When deployed across hybrid Internet + MPLS networks, it assesses in real-time the available bandwidth and performance of each path and provides dynamic failover of application flows according to their application SLAs.
Gartner forecasts that “through 2013, at least 60% of enterprises will experience slow or inconsistent application performance issues from externally hosted applications, due to improper network design.”1
“Performance is a major concern as enterprises adopt SaaS-based applications. Traditional MPLS Classes of Services and router-based QoS are unable to provide the required granularity,” said Joe Skorupa, Research Vice President, Datacenter Transformation, Gartner, Inc. “Mechanisms that provide application specific guarantees are required to alleviate enterprises’ concerns.”
Application SLAs are required because branches are becoming focal points of enterprise communications. In each branch, private application flows must compete with flows coming from the Internet, SaaS providers, hosting providers and Unified Communications applications. Network traffic no longer comes from a single location— now the branch is where everything converges.
“The days when all network traffic originated at a central hub are over—the branches are now the hubs. MPLS is unable to cope with this new reality. VPNs must evolve to Cloud-Ready Networks that enforce application SLAs for cloud and in-house applications,” said Frank Lyonnet, VP Product Marketing at Ipanema Technologies.
The release of ANS 7.0 is one of several elements in Ipanema’s vision of Cloud-Ready Networks which extends end-to-end application SLAs enforcement to all cloud-based applications. Virtual appliances bring ANS to hosted environments. Branch office appliances will become as easy to deploy as cable modems. New application performance metrics provide insights into the whole cloud application delivery chain. Ipanema allows enterprises to enforce end-to-end application SLAs for their business-critical private applications. Public cloud applications are fully controlled and their performance is automatically aligned to SLAs across the enterprise WAN. Following ANS 7.0, Ipanema will deliver by the end of 2011:
- The nano|engine is a branch office device specially designed for Cloud-Ready Networks. The nano|engine is a small form factor, high-bandwidth, plug-and-play device that will automatically control the performance of the combination of cloud, in-house and peer-to-peer applications in modern enterprise branch offices and allow Service Providers to extend services to small and medium enterprises.
- The virtual|engine is the first virtual appliance to integrate QoS & Control, Application Visibility, WAN Optimization and Dynamic WAN Selection. The virtual|engine is a software image that can be deployed in the private data center, as well as, with any IaaS provider to provide all the end-to-end benefits of ANS without the need of an appliance.
Many enterprises enforce application SLAs for their cloud-based applications thanks to their Ipanema powered Cloud-Ready Network, which delivers the productivity and savings promises of cloud projects. Using Ipanema, enterprises have successfully migrated to Google Apps and Microsoft BPOS and have postponed bandwidth upgrades; typically by two to four years. Enterprises that deployed SaaS applications across hybrid MPLS and Internet networks multiplied by 3X their global network capacity while reducing their total network spending by 30%.
