Third-time Grand Prix Win Unprecedented in Show History

CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ixia (NASDAQ: XXIA), a leading, global provider of converged IP network test solutions, today announced that Ixia’s K2 100 Gbps layer 1-7 Shownet demonstration was awarded Interop Tokyo’s Best of Show “Grand Prix” while its new native Fibre Channel 2/4/8G load module garnered Best of Show in the Test and Measurement category. This marks an unprecedented third year in a row that Ixia has won the Grand Prix award.

During Interop Tokyo, a public demonstration showcasing next-generation ultra-high speed network technology was held connecting Makuhari, Chiba to the NTT Communications site in Otemachi, Tokyo via Interop Tokyo’s Shownet (an interoperability test demo environment at Interop Tokyo) in order to test the interoperability and the performance of 100 Gbps routers, switches, and transmission equipment. Ixia's K2 100 Gbps layer 1-7 network test solution helped ensure Shownet’s 100GbE connectivity and performance by connecting both sites (Makuhari and Otemachi) during pre-testing.

Ixia's K2 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps modules are the first-to-market test solution for network equipment manufacturers developing 40/100 Gbps devices, providing full IP layer 1-7 measurement and analysis. Test requirements for 40/100 Gbps compliant devices range from generating and analyzing the simplest layer 2 data plane traffic all the way up to sophisticated stateful network communication testing, including IPTV, VoIP, video on demand, HDTV, Internet gaming, and multimedia streaming services. Unframed BERT is also supported on 40 Gbps, 100 Gbps, and dual speed load modules.

The new Fibre Channel module provides high-density converged end-to-end data center infrastructure testing of Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). Ixia’s 4-port and 8-port native Fibre Channel load modules are part of its overall converged data center solution, delivering complete FC-2 and FCP data plane capabilities and performance as well as providing the industry's highest density Fibre Channel test solution.

“Ixia’s K2 100 GE test solution has helped network equipment manufacturers and service providers develop their 100 GE equipment and networks over the past year," said Atul Bhatnagar, Ixia’s president and CEO. "The Shownet demonstration, the Grand Prix award, and the Best of Show award for the Fibre Channel load module validate Ixia’s leadership in and commitment to forward-thinking data center convergence technology.”
