NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Spirent Communications today announced the introduction of its cable services module with comprehensive 1GHz Signal Level Meter (SLM) and DOCSIS 3.0 testing to Spirent Tech-X Flex™. Already deployed by three of the top five MSOs in North America, the market leading Spirent Tech-X Flex allows field engineers and technicians to confidently assure the quality of the advanced cable broadband services.

In today’s competitive marketplace, DOCSIS 3.0 and 1GHz SLM performance testing is critical to rolling out consumer services such as cloud computing, streaming media, VoIP, streaming media, gaming and other interactive services with the highest quality. The Spirent Tech-X Flex solution is the cable industry’s first modular field test product to combine comprehensive test and measurement features for advanced cable services such as high-speed data and multi-room DVR, delivered over DOCSIS and MoCA home networks.

The Spirent Tech-X Flex gives field technicians a tool that simplifies DOCSIS 3.0 testing and diagnostics with easy-to-read displays highlighting downstream and upstream channel quality metrics, an intuitive cable modem initialization analysis and precise IP quality and throughput measurements. Additionally, this module enables field engineers and technicians to perform automated home certification tests, through the push of a single button, which qualify the customer’s cable TV service. As with all Tech-X Flex test features, DOCSIS and 1GHz SLM testing supports customizable test scripts which compare results with pre-defined thresholds and report intuitive pass/fail results that can be sent to back-office systems.
