Carrier Ethernet Expert Zeev Draer to Speak This Week at Packet Optical Transport Evolution and International Telecoms Week Events

CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC., today announced that Zeev Draer, vice president of marketing, will present this week at the Packet Optical Transport Evolution and International Telecoms Week events. MRV Communications, Inc. is a leading supplier of optical communication systems and related networking equipment, and services for high-speed carrier and enterprise networks and specialized aerospace, defense and other communications networks.

On May 19 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, Packet Optical Transport Evolution will bring together industry analysts, leading suppliers and service providers through panel sessions, keynote presentations and roundtable discussions. As part of the event, Draer will participate in a panel discussion titled “Packet-Friendly Optical Backhaul for Mobile Operators.” Moderated by Heavy Reading analyst Sterling Perrin, this session will explore both the opportunities and the challenges of evolving the backhaul network from traditional time-division multiplexing (TDM) to packet-oriented architectures.

International Telecoms Week is held May 24-26 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., and is an annual networking event for the wholesale telecommunications community. This meeting brings together more than 4,000 delegates from nearly 1,300 companies and over 130 countries to buy and sell both voice and data products and services. On May 24, Draer will participate as part of the “Global Interconnect Tutorial” panel discussion, which will explore global interconnection and its drivers and business challenges as well as key Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) certifications.

“The fact that these two shows reach different audiences that are looking for information on the benefits of integrated packet and optical networks shows how these networks are transforming the industry,” said Noam Lotan, chief executive officer of MRV Communications. “With nearly two decades of experience in the telecommunications industry, I believe Zeev will bring a very real and unique perspective to these panels.”

Prior to his role as vice president of marketing, Draer served as vice president and product line manager for MRV International Carrier Ethernet Division. In this position, he was responsible for leading and promoting MRV’s flagship Carrier Ethernet product lines in the Metro Ethernet access market. Draer is a member of the Metro Ethernet Forum and is active in making technology outlook presentations at industry seminars, conferences and tradeshows. Draer has more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to MRV, he worked for a subsidiary of Elbit, a leading military telecommunications systems integrator and cellular application startup company.
