NewBay’s ‘Zero-Click’ Upload and Access of Cloud-Based Content Drives Significant Increase in Monthly Customer Usage
The company delivers this capability to Android and Windows devices for major operators in North America, Europe and Asia.
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NewBay, the leader in digital lifestyle services, today announced the results of new research that shows the impact of its LifeCache cloud platform in driving greater usage of operator services. In particular, the data — aggregated from across NewBay’s customers — shows that the “zero-click” simplicity of the LifeCache platform is helping operators to realize dramatically improved rates of repeat monthly usage of services for uploading and accessing digital content. The 65 percent repeat monthly return rate among users of LifeCache-based services more than doubles the return usage rate for single-click platforms, representing a significant revenue opportunity for operator customers.
“This data — from LifeCache users worldwide — shows the important and direct relationship between usability and usage,” said Steve French, vice president of global marketing at NewBay. “Zero-click is the direct result of our commitment to simplifying and enhancing the user experience as a way to drive success for our operator and device-maker customers. This is about more than just content upload. We are streamlining the entire content lifecycle by making it easier to store and access content from the cloud and stimulating repeat activity through notifications and social networking alerts.”
Zero-click functionality is integrated into NewBay’s LifeCache Media Upload/Sharing Client, which is available on multiple platforms, including Android and Windows mobile devices. Once a subscriber sets their upload/sharing destination, their photos and videos – both those they create and those they buy - are instantly uploaded/shared with zero user intervention. Media destinations might include a subscriber’s favorite social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc.), operator-branded digital vault or album, or directly to friends and family via SMS, MMS or email.
