New Android-Powered Smartphone is First of its Kind to Feature Hands-Free Mode with Genius Button powered by Nuance’s Natural Language Voice and Text-to-Speech Technology

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) today announced that Nuance’s natural language voice technology powers the Genius Button and Hands-Free mode innovations on the T-Mobile® myTouch® 4G, allowing consumers to speak, receive and send text messages completely by voice.

The T-Mobile Genius Button, first introduced on the T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide, gives consumers one-button, one-shot voice command for the features and mobile applications consumers use most to stay connected – making calls, sending emails and text messages, searching the Web, finding businesses and directions, and more. On the T-Mobile myTouch 4G, the Genius Button gets even smarter with Hands-Free mode.

Users simply press the Genius Button and say “Turn Hands-Free Mode on,” and from there, the Bluetooth-compatible Hands-Free mode allows consumers to speak to initiate an SMS text message, have text messages read out as they’re received, reply to text messages, and of course, send them. Hands-Free mode offers the read back of dictated messages to confirm accuracy, providing users the option to easily edit the dictated message as needed. Hands-Free mode also introduces voice-activated caller announcement, allowing users to hear both contact names and numbers without having to look at the phone.
