Solution helps enterprises ensure mobile device security by provisioning, managing, and monitoring secure mobile apps

MORGAN HILL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Partnerpedia, a provider of mobile app management and marketplace solutions, today announced its cloud-based Enterprise AppZone solution for corporate IT.

As companies implement their mobile application strategies, one of the key areas of concern are app security and integrity. Many IT organizations have already begun to implement Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions, however, there is still a need to manage the security of the mobile app itself within the enterprise. Enterprise AppZone complements MDM solutions by ensuring the integrity of mobile apps. This is accomplished with a centralized management system for secure testing, provisioning, monitoring and patching of the apps.

According to IT analyst Gartner, by the year 2013, 80 percent of businesses will support tablets in the workforce. To help manage those and other mobile devices, research firm Forrester further estimates that 10 percent of enterprises will open a private enterprise app store just this year.

“The CIO is now going to be dealing with managing applications and not devices,” says Mike Sapien, Principal Analyst, Enterprise Practice, at Ovum. “Based on our work in global managed mobility, we see the move from device management to application management as the new challenge. There is an increasing importance on mobile access to internal and external applications. The CIO’s traditional position of locking down desktops is clearly over.”

Companies facing the rapid influx of mobile devices are struggling to find the balance between maintaining corporate security and policies, while providing end-users with the mobile apps and content they need to be more productive in the workplace.

“Many organizations are dealing with the ‘consumerization of IT’ from a risk mitigation and security perspective,” says Mark Sochan, CEO at Partnerpedia. “While security is always paramount, now is the time to embrace the new world of enterprise mobility in a way that truly empowers the end-user.”

Designed for ease-of-use and rapid deployment, Enterprise AppZone offers IT a centrally controlled app vetting, publishing, distribution and management solution for mobile devices. End-users will benefit from the familiar consumer style ease-of-use of an internal enterprise app store.

Among the security features of Enterprise AppZone are virus detection, monitoring, policy management, user/group access control and remote wipe. In addition, Enterprise AppZone includes an application marketplace where IT can securely purchase and freely download pre-vetted business apps.

Recognizing that enterprise app stores differ from their consumer counterparts, Enterprise AppZone also supports corporate procurement processes such as volume and PO purchasing, and license management.

Partnerpedia will be previewing Enterprise AppZone at the Gartner ITXpo event Oct 17-20, 2011 at booth #ET6. Partnerpedia will be offering a free 100 user license to any company that stops at the booth.

Pricing for Enterprise AppZone will be based on users, regardless of the number of devices. General availability is planned for the end of the year.
