Privus Mobile Brings Security to the Whole Family with New Smartphone App
Mobile users can keep an eye on who is calling loved ones with Family Guard application
ALLEN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- For years, the original mobile caller ID developer Privus Mobile has helped smartphone users across the world take charge of incoming calls and text messages with a complete line of mobile applications. Now, Privus Mobile is bringing even more security to the U.S. mobile market – and this time it’s for the whole family! With its new application, Family Guard, smartphone users can monitor who’s calling their children or other loved ones.
“One of the primary concerns that we’ve been working toward for years is the protection of privacy for smartphone users,” said Greg Smith, president of Privus Mobile. “With the number of calls people receive increasing all the time, and mobile phones being the primary phone line for many users, it’s becoming even more important for them to know who’s on the other end of the line to avoid being taken advantage of. In order to take that protection to an even higher level, we’re offering this app so that people can protect not only themselves, but their loved ones as well.”
Family Guard functions similarly to other Privus Mobile applications – when a phone call or text message is received*, information regarding the incoming call is displayed on the handset (applications even have the option of audible alerts which announce the name of the sender for truly hands-free caller ID). With Family Guard, not only does the application identify the caller to the phone’s user, but it will also send a copy of the caller’s information to a designated guardian’s phone and/or email. Users simply register their handset in addition to the handset being monitored to begin receiving information regarding calls to that phone.
“When social networks like Facebook and MySpace began to take off years ago, we saw security issues for children and elderly adults whose personal information was often made available to anyone who wanted it,” said Smith. “As smartphones experience the same increase in adoption among all age groups, we can expect to see dangers like this arise again. Smartphone users should be considering these issues now, before something unfortunate occurs.”
Family Guard is available for download on monitored devices supported by Android, Windows Mobile 6 and BlackBerry operating systems. The application only needs to be installed on the monitored device, while the guardian’s phone just needs to receive text messages or email. The app requires a monthly subscription fee comparable to landline caller ID services and can be downloaded by visiting www.privus.mobi on a compatible smartphone.

*Due to simultaneous data and voice constraints on CDMA networks, Privus Mobile can only deliver caller information while ringing on devices compatible with 3G GSM networks such as AT&T and T-Mobile. Users supported by other carriers may receive the notification after the call or text message is received.
