Workshop to Discuss the Realities of the Proposed AT&T and T-Mobile Merger, the Legacy Laws in Place and the Future of Communications

NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Building on the success of the Regulatory 2.0 Workshop in Miami, TMC and Crossfire Media have launched Regulatory 2.0 Workshop: The Future of Communications.

The Regulatory 2.0 Workshop will examine the important issues facing the FCC including inter-carrier compensation, interconnection requirements, carrier of last resort obligations, universal service reform and the evolving role of state regulation.

The workshop will be hosted by Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw, Pitman LLP, and will include speakers from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Skype, Sprint Nextel Corporation, AT&T, and more. Google has signed on as the diamond level sponsor and Pillsbury is the gold level sponsor of the event.

Carl Ford, Co-founder and Community Developer of Crossfire Media stated, “The National Broadband Policy is impacting the future of the PSTN. In the discussion about how to modify the Federal Universal Service Fund, the goal to twilight the PSTN and enable broadband service has been discussed. The Regulatory 2.0 event is focused on what it means to twilight the PSTN and what rules should apply to the next generation of the communications.”

“Government policies have had tremendous impact on the telecom space and the rise of the Internet. And as industry consolidation and net neutrality issues grow in importance, politicians and government workers will play a pivotal role in deciding what the next-gen communications market will look like,” said TMC CEO Rich Tehrani. “This conference is designed to help frame the debate and allow participants to gain insight into how US carrier networks will be allowed to evolve.”

Registration for Regulatory 2.0 Workshop is now open. Media inquiries should be directed to Todd Keefe at For Immediate Release PR.
