Next-Generation Ethernet Architecture Key to Reaching Underserved Customers Economically

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation converged communications solutions, today announced that Reliance Connects, a leading provider of voice, data and video services to residents in Oregon and Nevada has selected the Total Access® 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform along with the Total Access 1124P Sealed DSLAMs and Total Access 300 Series ONTs for future Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments. The ADTRAN solutions will allow Reliance Connects the ability to extend broadband services to previously underserved rural areas and upgrade their existing legacy access network.

“ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 will allow us to evolve our legacy DLC deployments to a next-generation Ethernet architecture, allowing us to upgrade services within our footprint and benefit from the significant operational efficiencies that Ethernet brings,” said Dennis Anderson, engineering manager, Reliance Connects. “ADTRAN also stands behind their products with unmatched industry-leading support – further setting them apart from the competition.”

The ADTRAN Total Access 5000 is a carrier class, multi-service access and aggregation platform that bridges the gap between existing and next-generation networks. With an all-Ethernet core, the Total Access 5000 supports both legacy and emerging-service interfaces over copper and fiber, easily scaling to support bandwidth-intensive applications. This scalable Ethernet architecture allows carriers to use the Total Access 5000 to economically address both legacy and next-generation services while providing a seamless path toward a converged network.

“Service providers like Reliance Connects are discovering the many benefits of the Total Access 5000,” said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “Most service providers have diverse needs for delivering broadband services in their network, including central office based solutions, Remote Terminal (RT), Fiber-To-The-Node (FTTN) and Fiber-To-The-Premises (FTTP). The Total Access 5000 seamlessly supports these applications with different modules within a single carrier-class system. The solution also offers carriers a migration path from legacy to next-generation architectures without the need for any additional chassis or resource modules, thus lowering the overall expense and providing the least friction to our customers.”
