Research and Markets: South Korea - Overview and Statistics Examines the Major Operators in South Korea as They Position T
DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/dc9fca/south_korea_majo) has announced the addition of the "South Korea - Major Telecom Operators - Overview and Statistics" report to their offering.
The 2009/2010 period has seen significant developments in the South Korean telecommunications market among which has been restructuring amongst the major operators. Although the fixed-line telephone market in South Korea continues to be dominated by the incumbent KT, VoIP services are becoming increasingly popular as operators bundle services in a bid to stop the decline in ARPU. SK Broadband and SK Telecom have kept separate on paper although in practice the companies behave as a full-services operator. In 2009, in order to be better positioned against the fierce competition, KT Corp merged in the operations of its mobile entity KT Freetel. LG Telecom quickly followed suit and in 2010 LG Telecom had merged its operations with LG Dacom and LG Telecom. Both LG Telecom and KT had become full-services operators offering extensive converged services. This report examines the major operators in South Korea as they position themselves for broadcasting-communications convergence.
