Delivers 100th Mobile Broadband Gateway System as Sales Accelerate and Looks to Exit 2010 With Double Its Current Deployments

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mobile broadband gateway developer Stoke, Inc. announced that it has delivered its 100th system for commercial deployment, a milestone highlighting the company’s transition from startup to emerging player in the mobile data infrastructure market. The company began shipping its innovative, high-performance Stoke Session Exchange (SSX) transformation gateway to mobile carriers in late 2008.

“Reaching this milestone in product shipments underscores the relevance of Stoke products and solutions in a market where operators must juggle the demands for immediate answers to 3G network data overload with planning for their transition to LTE and 4G,” added Vikash Varma, President and CEO at Stoke. “Our current customer contracts will double the number of shipped systems by the end of this year with more than 200 systems deployed.”

The SSX is an advanced operating platform that can be deployed in a variety of mobile data network locations and perform a range of functions that help deliver improved service performance, user satisfaction, and operator ROI. Stoke’s technology seamlessly interacts with existing infrastructure, adding new capabilities that breakthrough limitations of existing architectures. The SSX benefits mobile broadband services and offload capabilities in 3G and LTE, as well as in transitioning environments. Stoke’s solutions are currently deployed for femtocell, multi-network mobility anchor, and LTE scenarios.

In January 2010, Stoke and Japanese systems integrator Net One Systems Co., Ltd. announced that the Stoke Sessions Exchange had been selected by NTT Docomo, following extensive evaluation, for its LTE (Long Term Evolution) service network platform. Complimenting Stoke on their achievements to date, Mr. Tomohiro Iwamoto, Executive General Manager of Net One Systems, said, “Top-tier network operators are very particular in their demands for quality and expectations for timely product delivery. Stoke has not only set excellent benchmarks for technology innovation, but has demonstrated its ability to scale to meet rapidly growing customer demand in one of the world’s most exacting environments.”

Peter Jarich, Service Director, Current Analysis, said, “As operators continue to evolve their networks from 2G to 3G to 4G, various considerations have taken center stage: service quality, network efficiency, network performance. Stoke’s 100th commercial deployment, attests to its success in helping mobile operators realize these demands.”

Stoke Solution Set

Stoke continues to expand its offerings with solutions based on the Stoke Session Exchange, addressing key areas of the mobile data infrastructure including data offload solutions with Wi-Fi, femtocells, and non-intrusive Iu-PS Breakout, and LTE network gateways. Stoke also offers mobility management gateway functions that enable seamless transition between different wireless access technologies, including 3G, Wi-Fi, and LTE.

The Stoke Session Exchange for both 3G and LTE environments, provides a profitable, competitive service advantage. It has been engineered to provide a unique combination of capabilities to address mobile operators’ most pressing requirements. These capabilities include:

  • multi-functionality; the ability to perform multiple concurrent roles without impact on performance;
  • a modular, scalable design that delivers exponential cost savings/ROI while enabling the delivery of new services;
  • proven ease of implementation and management; and
  • tried and tested carrier grade performance.

Varma added, “We are competing head-to-head with prominent equipment providers and winning because our offerings are specifically designed for the new realities of mobile broadband data delivery. Our vision - a transformation platform that enables operators to break through the self-imposed limitations of Legacy-Thinking™ and planning resonates with operators around the world. This is evidenced by the fact that the company surpassed its 2009 revenues the first quarter of 2010 alone, and we continue to build our global customer base.”
