Telekom Malaysia Selects ATEME for IPTV Video Head-End Deployment

AMSTERDAM--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ATEME, the world-leading provider of MPEG-4/H.264 video compression solutions has today announced that Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), Malaysia’s leading next generation communications provider, has chosen ATEME to deploy its new Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) Video head-end services aptly called “HyppTV’.

For this deployment, TM has selected the ATEME Video Head-End Solution consisting of multi format SD/HD Kyrion AM 2101 encoders with Picture in Picture mode and 24 x 7 full redundancy. This solution will enable TM to extend its IPTV offering to 30 channels by the end of 2010.

In March 2010, TM announced its IPTV rollout, which bundled as part of its triple-play offering via its high-speed broadband service, UniFi. Currently, TM’s IPTV service includes Live channels, Video-on-Demand (VOD) and other interactive services, with more expansion underway.

The ATEME Kyrion AM2101 solution is the third generation High Definition (HD) MPEG-4/H.264 encoder targeting a broad range of DTV applications, featuring the Ultra Efficiency Mode enabling perfect HD below 5Mbps for IPTV services.
