After Four Iterations with ITEXPO, the Smart Grid Summit Expands as a Standalone Event, June 21-22, 2011

NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- TMC, in association with Crossfire Media, today announced that the fifth iteration of the Smart Grid Summit will take place on June 21-22, 2011 at the Hyatt Dulles in Herndon, Virginia. After four successful collocations with ITEXPO, the Smart Grid Summit will now become a standalone event.

TMC’s Smart Grid Summit focuses on the intersection of energy, IT and telecommunications. The conference identifies opportunities for utilities, service providers, and product manufacturers in a manner that helps them overcome the same transformational issues that telecom experienced with the advent of IP communications technologies.

“From inception, our summit has differentiated itself from other grid events by focusing on the broader opportunities born from the blending of energy, telecom and IT,” said Carl Ford, co-producer of the Smart Grid Summit. “Hosting the event in a standalone fashion enables us to expand the content, and ramp up the marketing in a manner that will take the show to a new level. We’re looking forward to bringing the event to the Metro DC area for what will be our largest Smart Grid Summit to date.”

Proposals are now being accepted for the conference program http://smart-grid.tmcnet.com/conference/dc-11/w-11-call-for-papers.aspx#top. Conference content will cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Industry standards and interoperability
  • Renewable energy and storage solutions for the grid
  • Energy management in the enterprise and data center
  • Wireless/WiMAX opportunities for utilities
  • Smart-home applications, and home energy management technologies

Sponsorship, branding and advertising opportunities are also available, and interested parties should contact Kevin Lake at klake@tmcnet.com for further details.

Registration for the Smart Grid Summit is now open. Members of the media can reserve media credentials by contacting Todd Keefe at For Immediate Release PR.
