Enables Authorization of Third Party Apps to Any Twilio Account

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Twilio Conference -- Twilio (www.twilio.com), provider of pay-as-you-go cloud communications services, today announced Twilio Connect, a new feature that enables software developers to add phone calls and text messages to their applications without the hassle of billing end users for usage. With Twilio Connect, Twilio takes care of billing the end user for any phone calls or text messages, while developers price their applications using traditional software-as-a-service pricing models.

Twilio believes in helping developers focus on what they do best -- solve problems. Consumers expect simple fixed or subscription-based pricing for web and mobile apps. Twilio Connect allows software developers to choose the pricing model that makes the most sense for their application, while giving consumers to pay Twilio directly for usage of communications features within the application.

“Twilio is committed to bringing simplicity to the process of building and monetizing applications, and with Twilio Connect we're giving developers a powerful tool for streamlining usage-based billing,” said Jeff Lawson, Twilio CEO and Cofounder. “With Twilio Connect, any Twilio account now has the ability to authorize, configure, and run third-party applications.”

Twilio Connect allows any Twilio account to authorize an application developer to securely use the resources within their account, while retaining full control of their Twilio phone numbers, usage history, and billing preferences. Twilio Connect launch partners include GoodData, Mobile Commons, Optimizely, and MuleSoft.

“Twilio Connect lets Optimizely’s customers pay Twilio directly for their phone usage,” said Pete Koomen, Co-founder and President of Optimizely. “This has enabled Optimizely to deliver Twilio-powered A/B testing features for telephone calls in just a few weeks, without increasing our subscription pricing or complicating it with add-ons.”

Twilio Connect also provides application developers with secure access to rich usage data, which can be utilized to expose business intelligence insights. Detailed history of phone calls and text message is available, and Twilio partners like GoodData are providing robust analytics integrations.

“Twilio Connect makes it even easier for customers to measure the results of every call or SMS from any Twilio-powered app in a GoodData dashboard,” said Roman Stanek, CEO and Founder of GoodData. “Together with Twilio, we're making it easy for business users to see their KPIs around marketing campaigns and call center performance.”

Twilio Connect is available today for all Twilio accounts for no additional charge.
