Team-Buying, Daily Deal Service Looks to Expand Internationally in 2011

APEX, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Twongo, the fast-growing team-buying, daily deal service, has selected VoIP provider FeatureTel for its business phone service at its U.S. headquarters in Cary, N.C. FeatureTel offers hosted VoIP business telephone service over private networks for business of all sizes across the Carolinas.

“We knew we wanted VoIP as our telecom solution,” said Twongo Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder Scott Bowen, “and we looked at a number of providers. Many of them were too limiting when it came to transferring calls and conferencing. FeatureTel was the only provider that had the features and functionality we needed along with a solution that could grow as fast as our business.”

Twongo is a free, social savings platform based on the Chinese concept of “tuangou,” or group buying. The service features one new deal every day, called the Big Deal, for savings in the dining, shopping and entertainment arenas in a market. The more people who purchase the deal, the greater the discount becomes for everyone buying that deal.

“FeatureTel is phone service that provides telecom of today with local support,” Bowen added. “We like that because they are a lot like our business -- we use the latest technology and local support to provide our service, too.”

Bowen also explained that FeatureTel, with phone service features like find-me / follow-me, unified messaging and the ability to plug phones into any cable outlet, allows Twongo to be agile in its Triangle area, Wilmington, N.C., and British Columbia, Canada markets, as well as in preparation for its anticipated growth in 2011.
