Nortel Networks spin-off Blade Technologies has announced Gigabit and 10 Gig Ethernet switches that address the market opportunity for rack-level virtualization in the network data center. The company, which makes blade switches for server systems from Hewlett-Packard, IBM and NEC, claims its approach is more cost-effective than other data center virtualization options, such as the Nexus products from Cisco Systems.
