Internet2, the nonprofit condortium involving more than 46,000 universities, libraries and other research and education agencies, announced to its members at its fall meeting this week that it has completed a nationwide network infrastructure capable of bandwidth up to 100 Gbps.
Level 3 Communications actually finished construction on the network infrastructure a few months ago. A dynamic network circuit capability allows network administrators to allocate 10 Gbps chunks of dedicated capacity when necessary.
