A number of the largest telcos reported in recent public filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) how much their CEOs made in 2013. FierceTelecom examines the salary and compensation rates of chief executives at 10 publicly traded service providers in our annual highest paid CEOs in wireline feature.

There aren't any big surprises at the top of our list. Similar to 2011 and 2012, the highest paid wireline telecom executives were again Verizon's (NYSE: VZ) Lowell McAdam and AT&T's (NYSE: T) Randall Stephenson.

However, as seen with last year's executive compensation report, there were fluctuations.

McAdam and Stephenson both reported that their compensation rose slightly, a reversal of the downward trend they saw in 2012. McAdam's compensation rose from just a bit over $14 million in 2012 to $15.8 million in 2013. Likewise, Stephenson saw his compensation rise slightly from $22.2 million in 2012 to $23.2 million in 2013.

Meanwhile, Level 3's CEO Jeff Storey saw his compensation dip to $8.01 million after reporting $10.9 million in 2012 when he took over as CEO from company founder James Crowe.

But it wasn't just the large telcos and competitive carriers where shifts occurred.

One of the biggest transitions took place at Cincinnati Bell where Ted Torbeck assumed the CEO role when John Cassidy retired last year. His overall pay jumped from $3.5 million when he served as the President and General Manager of Cincinnati Bell Communications to over $5.3 million.

Check out the 10 highest-paid CEOs below. We gathered salary and compensation data comes from publicly available filings made to the SEC.
