Oct. 18
Verizon (NYSE: VZ)
Verizon reported its third consecutive quarter of double-digit growth year-over-year. The company's total operational revenues in the third quarter were $29 billion, up 3.9 percent from third-quarter 2011. Verizon's earnings per share (EPS) were 64 cents per share, an increase of 14.3 percent. On the wireline side, third-quarter revenues totaled $9.9 billion, declining 2.3 percent compared to last year. The company added 136,000 FiOS Internet connections for a year-over-year increase of 14.4 percent and upped their FiOS Video connections by 119,000 for an increase of 15.4 percent.

Oct. 22
ADVA Optical Networking (XETRA: ADV.DE)
Q3 2012 revenues for ADVA were €82.3 million ($107.4 million), up 3.7 percent year-on-year from €79.3 million ($104 million) in Q3 2011. The Munich-based optical vendor said the Q3 2012 results were in line with its previous guidance of €82 million ($107 million) and €87 million ($114 million) and down 4.2 percent sequentially from €85.9 million ($112 million) achieved in Q2 2012.

Oct. 23
Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR)
Juniper's Q3 2012 earnings results surpassed Wall Street forecasts as revenues rose 4 percent sequentially, and 1 percent on a year-over-year basis, to  $1.12 billion. Net income, however, declined to $16.8 million, or 3 cents per share, from $83.7 million, or 16 cents per share, in Q3 2011.

Oct. 24
AT&T (NYSE: T)
The Tier 1 carrier reported that Q3 2012 wireline revenues were $14.8 billion, down 1.6 percent from Q3 2011 and down slightly sequentially due to expected declines in its legacy voice and data services business. Q3 wireline operating expenses were $12.9 billion, down 2.1 percent from the same period a year ago. However, AT&T's wireline operating income rose 2.0 percent to $1.9 billion the third quarter of 2011.

Infinera (Nasdaq: INFN)
Equipment vendor Infinera reported that Q3 2012 GAAP revenues were $112.2 million, up sequentially from $93.5 million in Q2 2012 and $104 million in Q3 2011. Third quarter company GAAP gross margin was 37 percent, up 2 percent from 35 percent in Q2 2012.

Level 3 Communications (Nasdaq: LVLT)
Level 3 reported Q3 2012 revenues of $1.59 billion based on ongoing growth in its core network services unit. The service provider reported that its Q3 net loss was $166 million, or $57 million excluding losses of $60 million related to interest rate swap agreements and $49 million related to the extinguishing of debt. This compared to a $62 million net loss in Q2 2012.

Oct. 25
America Movil (NYSE: AMX)
America Movil reported that Q3 2012 revenue rose 4.5 percent year to MXN192.8 billion (USD14.9 billion) and sales grew 67 percent from MXN18.3 billion (USD1.4 billion) to MXN30.6 billion (USD2.4 billion). The service provider attributes the rise in sales and revenue to strong wireless growth and a large foreign exchange gain from including results from the stakes bought in European service providers KPN and Telekom Austria.

Calix (NYSE: CALX)
Calix won a slight victory as the access vendor reported that Q3 revenue rose 3 percent sequentially to $81.3 million. However, the news was tempered by the fact that on a year-over-year basis, revenues declined 2.8 percent from $83.7 million from Q3 2011.

Sprint (NYSE: S)
Sprint reported that Q3 2012 wireline revenues declined 12 percent year-over-year to $939 million. The service provider attributes the decline to intercompany rate reduction based on current market prices for voice and IP services sold to the wireless segment in addition to lower voice, data and IP service volumes.

Layoffs are on deck for Tellabs as the vendor continued to struggle in Q3 2012, reporting on Thursday that revenue in Q3 2012 was $264 million, down sequentially from $288 million in Q2 2012 and year-over-year from $330 million in the same period a year ago.

Bell Aliant (Toronto: BA-UN.TO)
Bell Aliant reported on Tuesday that net earnings were CAD 92 million (USD 92.02 million), up from CAD 16 million (USD 16 million), or 21.6 percent year-over-year from Q3 2011, on revenues which fell by 0.4 percent to CAD 697 million (USD 697.1 million) as next-gen services offset expected declines in local and long distance voice revenues.

Cincinnati Bell (NYSE: CBB)
Cincinnati Bell on Tuesday reported that is continuing to balance POTS revenue losses with a rise in next-gen services as the telco's Q3 2012 wireline revenues dropped slightly year-over-year to $182 million from $183 million from the same period a year ago.

Service provider EarthLink held the line in the third quarter, coming in just above analyst estimates with revenues of $334.8 million--down 1 percent from Q2--and a net income of $1.4 million, or 1 cent per share.

Bell Canada (NYSE: BCE)
Bell Canada Enterprises reported Q3 2012 revenues rose 1.5 percent to CAD 4.98 billion (USD 5 billion) due to a 7 percent rise in wireless and a 25 percent jump in media revenue.

BT (NYSE: BT)
BT reported revenue of £4.4 billion ($7.23 billion), down 9 percent year-over-year. However, it added that pre-tax profits rose 7 percent during the same period and ended at £608 million ($1.1 billion), "despite the economic conditions and regulatory impacts," Ian Livingston, BT's CEO, said in the earnings release.

Consolidated Communications (Nasdaq: CNSL)
Consolidated reported that Q3 2012 revenues, including results from SureWest Communications which it purchased in July, were $157 million, up from $92.5 million in Q3 2011. Pro forma revenues were $157.0 million, up $130.8 million percent from $155.7 million in Q3 2011.

Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU)
Alcatel-Lucent has undertaken a €1.25 billion restructuring program that includes asset sales and 5,500 job cuts. The Franco-American company reported a net loss of €146 million for the third quarter, its second straight quarterly net loss, and revenues of €3.6 billion, a 2.8 percent drop from the same quarter last year.

FairPoint Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: FRP)
FairPoint reported that Q3 2012 revenue was $242.1 million, down sequentially from $243.5 million, as the expected decline in voice service revenue was partially offset by residential broadband as well as Ethernet services for businesses and wholesale carrier customers.

tw telecom reported that Q3 2012 earnings rose $24.4 million, or 7.1 percent year-over-year, to $368.9 million, compared to $344.5 million in Q3 2011, due to a rise in enterprise customer revenue.

Integra Telecom reported that Q3 revenues were $149.0 million, up from $148.6 million in Q2 2012. The service provider attributed the revenue growth to ongoing stability in its "existing customer base with respect to both churn and pricing, and the penetration of targeted customers with the company's strategic product set."

MTS Allstream (Toronto: MBT.TO
Net Q3 2012 earnings were CAD40.8 million (USD40.8 million) year-over-year for the three months ended Sept. 30, 2012, up from CAD37.0 million (USD36.9 million) from the same period a year ago. The service provider said its earnings per share were CAD0.61 (USD0.60) in Q3 2012, up 8.9 percent over Q3 2011, adding that its Q3 results position it to meet its "financial guidance ranges on all metrics."

Windstream (Nasdaq: WIN)
Windstream's Q3 revenues and sales were $1.55 billion, down slightly less than 1 percent from Q3 2011. On a sequential basis, revenues climbed to $15 million over Q2, which the ILEC said was "the largest sequential improvement recorded to date."

Q3 revenue for HickoryTech rose 1 percent year-over-year to $45.8 million due to ongoing gains in its fiber and data business segment. Despite seeing top line revenue gains, the telco's net income declined 18 percent year-over-year to $1.7 million, while earnings per share declined 19 percent to 13 cents per diluted share due to revenue declines in its Telecom segment and added depreciation expense companywide.

Revenues at the recently renamed and relisted Warwick Valley Telephone Company rose 3 percent to $7.1 million, up from $6.8 million in Q3 2011. As its traditional telephone business revenues continue to decline, WVT sees the majority of growth coming from its unified communications (UC) and cloud communications services sets.

Cisco reported that fiscal Q1 revenue rose 5.5 percent to $11.9 billion, slightly exceeding analysts' projections of $11.8 billion. Company net income was $2.1 billion, up 18 percent year over year, or 39 cents a share, from $1.78 billion, or 33 cents, in the same period a year ago.

Ciena (Nasdaq: CIEN)
Ciena reported on fiscal Q4 2012 revenues of $465.5 million, up from $455.5 million in fiscal Q4 2011. Some of Ciena's largest telecom customers have cut spending on new optical equipment due to ongoing economic uncertainty in both the United States and in Europe.
