20 million European homes will have a FTTH by 2015
French cable manufacturer Nexans is predicting 20 million European homes will have a fiber connection by 2015, driven in large part by citynets like Stockholm-owned Stokab, which is connecting buildings rapidly.
Sweden is the leading FTTH market in Sweden with about 650,000 of Europe's 1.3 million FTTH households. Italy accounted for the bulk of the remainder. No other country had broken the 100,000 barrier. Telcos, generally, have been reluctant partners in the rollout, worried about ROI; citynets and other utility companies have stepped in to fill the void.
Not so in Sweden, where TeliaSonera owns 50 percent of the country's dark fiber infrastructure.

The Norwegian operator Lyse today announced that they have signed up customer number 100.000 for their FTTH service, and another 30.000 that has already ordered, are just waiting to be connected.
