8x8 acquires DXI for $25.3M, strengthens its contact center capabilities

8x8 has signed an agreement to acquire privately held UK-based DXI for $25.3 million, a deal that will enhance its contact center capabilities.

The service provider said it expects the DXI deal to close later this month. 8x8 plans to bring DXI products and services into the U.S. market by the end of the year.

A key element that DXI brings to the table for 8x8 is its EasyContactNow product, which enables customers to easily try, buy, deploy and adapt services without the complexity and constraints experienced with traditional systems.

In addition to the product set, DXI will also bring its set of major global and regional customers, ranging from small to medium businesses to global enterprises. Penetrating larger enterprises has become a continued focus for 8x8 as it looks to scale its revenue base in this growing segment.

Vik Verma, CEO of 8x8, said in a release that its acquisition of DXI "enables 8x8 to continue to boost its European expansion efforts" while bolstering its position to pursue new cloud contact center solutions in the mid-market and enterprise segments.

DXI is just one of several regional providers 8x8 has purchased in recent years to bolster its presence in the European business services market. Between 2013 and 2014, the service provider made a number of moves to enhance its capabilities in Europe through a mix of acquisitions and partnerships, including its deal to acquire Voicenet Solutions and its pact with Interxion.
