8x8 establishes new headquarters in San Jose

8x8 (Nasdaq: EGHT), a competitive service provider that's been growing out its IP-based cloud services set, on Friday announced it has moved its headquarters to San Jose, Calif.

The service provider opened its new headquarters at 2125 O'Nel Drive in San Jose, occupying nearly 105,000 square feet--a facility that's more than double the amount of space at its former headquarters in Sunnyvale.

At this Silicon Valley facility, 8x8 will perform all of its corporate functions, including finance, human resources, sales, marketing, product management, engineering, research and development, and customer service and support as well as 8x8's Network Operations Center (NOC), with space for additional employees to accommodate growth.

What's driven the service provider to make this move is its customer base growing from about 17,000 businesses in mid-2009 to more than 30,000 businesses.

Through acquisitions of key companies such as Contactual and organic efforts, 8x8 said that it has seen a 30 percent average annual growth rate in revenue from business customers since 2006 and recently reported its Q1 results with an annualized revenue run rate of more than $100 million.
