8X8 lights up cloud, collaboration services in UK, Europe

8x8 (Nasdaq: EGHT) has begun offering its unified communication and collaboration services in the U.K. and broader European market, a move that was driven by its acquisition of U.K.-based Voicenet Solutions that now operates as 8x8 Solutions.

The service provider debuted the 8x8 Solutions brand during an event for channel partners at Altitude 360° in London.

A key element that 8x8 gained by acquiring Voicenet was its mobility solutions. Its service suite includes a set of fixed mobile convergence applications that it said can offer the same features and functionality of desktop business phone solutions on wireless smartphones.

Purchasing Voicenet Solutions is part of a growing movement by 8x8 to expand its international footprint outside of the U.S. and Canada to serve its multi-national customers.

Likewise, existing Voicenet customers can get a broader range of services, including 8x8's Virtual Office product, which allows users anywhere in the world with a broadband Internet connection to be part of a virtual PBX.

Now that it has Voicenet under its belt, 8x8 can take advantage of the growing European Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) market that Wainhouse Research forecasts will experience 36 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years.
