ADTRAN: Broadband boosts Q1 2010 revenue

Broadband is ADTRAN's business and business was good in Q1 2010. During Q1 2010, ADTRAN saw a 64 percent increase in broadband access and a 45 percent rise in Internet working revenue.

The increase in broadband access equipment sales drove the company's Q1 2010 net income up 20 percent to $18.2 million, a $3 million increase over the company's Q1 2009 results of $15.2 million. ADTRAN's revenue was also up 15 percent.

"The broad based increase in revenue points to the success of our positioning in an environment where carriers and enterprises are selectively accelerating investment to realize benefit from this new era of converged services," said Tom Stanton, ADTRAN's CEO.  

Stanton added in an analyst call about the earnings that the Q2 will see similar growth with revenue to be in the high single-digit percentage on sequential basis.
