Alcatel-Lucent eyes 2010 return to profit

Alcatel-Lucent reported a fourth-quarter net loss of close to $5 billion, but the company's CFO told French newspaper Les Echos that a return to profitability will come by the second half of 2010. The statement came as at least two analyst firms upgraded their ratings on Alcatel Lucent. Both R.W. Baird and Bank of America-Merrill Lynch upgraded the stock, with an indication that the network equipment vendor is in good enough shape to manage debts and maintain liquidity.
