Allstream signs 60 new IP-based business contracts in Q2

MTS Allstream's (Toronto: MBT.TO) bet on building out fiber and IP to buildings in Canada continues to pay off as the service provider reported that it signed 60 new deals in Q2 2011 alone.

MTS Allstream will release its second quarter earnings results on Aug. 5 and it's likely that they will cite business growth as one of its Q2 growth highlights.

To enable its IP services growth--an area where it says it's seeing the most growth in the business segment--Allstream has continued to bring fiber into more Canadian-based multi-tenant buildings. Although the initiative was only launched last March, Allstream has already brought fiber into 174 MTU buildings and has won 247 IP-based service contracts.

Among the many new customers that connected to Allstream's fiber network in Q2 were Active Health Management, Berletex Aero Design, and Thomson Reuters.

This momentum continued into Q2 2011 when it added 47 new buildings to its 30,000 km fiber network, increasing Allstream's total number of fiber fed buildings to 2,211.
