The U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals  toseed a lower court's decision blocking Cablevision Systems Corp. from introducing a next-generation digital video recorder. The ruling  could impact cable and satellite distributors and programmers. The Court Monday said a district judge erred in ruling last year that Cablevision's plans to introduce a remote-storage DVR system would violate copyright laws. The ruling's a big win for cable operators because it would allow them to curb their spending on digital video recorders placed in customers' homes, one of their biggest drivers of expenses. Another appeal is expected.
