America Movil integrates its Argentine wireline/wireless brand

With its purchase of Telmex Internacional complete, America Movil is consolidating its wireline and wireless assets into the Claro brand.

When it officially launches its integrated brand on October 20, Claro will be the first service provider in Argentina to offer an integrated wireless/wireline offering with a common brand, one bill and its own network. Customers will be able to purchase a unified wireline and wireless product set at local retail chains and customer service centers.

But America Movil's desires aren't just about standard wireless voice and data services alone as the service provider is in the process of purchasing a TV operating license. Although it did not provide any specific details, a residential video launch would require Telmex to extend the reach of its fiber network deeper into the last mile.
