Amoroso aims to secure AT&T

Network World conducted a Q&A with Edward Amoroso, the chief security officer of AT&T, after Amoroso delivered a keynote speech at the Forrester's Security Forum last week in Boston. In that keynote, Amoroso talked about the threat AT&T's network increasingly faces from botnets and large-scale denial-of-service attacks, and what the carrier is doing about those threats. However, he also noted that the vulnerability of widely circulated sensitive personal information, such as social security numbers, possibly could be a bigger challenge. As telcos prepare to battle the botnet armies, they also need to remember those most fundamental of information security issues.
