Arris bids $730 million for C-COR

Arris Group said over the weekend that it intends to acquire fellow network equipment vendor C-COR for $730 million. Actually, Arris, with a strong cable TV resume, could take advantage of video-on-demand technologies and other solutions from C-COR.

It was only last February that Suwanee, Ga.-based Arris Group, however, lost out to Swedish vendor giant Ericsson in its bid to acquire Tandberg TV. Analysts still expect Arris Group to pursue an M&A track to bulk of its video holdings, but with Ericsson picking off one target and Motorola busily acquiring video-related vendors, that's been tough.
