AT&T adds firewall, SLA capabilities to NetBond cloud services lineup

AT&T (NYSE: T) continues to ramp up its NetBond cloud service capabilities by adding two new elements to its lineup, including a cloud-based firewall service and a new set of SLAs.

Integrating firewall functionality between the AT&T VPN and AT&T NetBond-enabled cloud service providers, Network-Based Firewall helps cloud service providers control and protect information within the highly-secure environment of a business customer's network.

The new SLAs cover four main elements: 99.9 percent of service availability; 39.5 milliseconds or lower network latency; 2.9 milliseconds of jitter; and 99.9 percent of data delivered.

"When we launched AT&T NetBond in 2013, we delivered a game-changing solution for enterprises looking for a better way to access their cloud services," said Andy Daudelin, VP of cloud for AT&T, in a blog post. "[Three] years later, we remain committed to expanding NetBond's capabilities to grow with the evolving business community and anticipate future needs."

The new service capabilities are only one part of AT&T's evolution of the NetBond technology and its cloud vision.

As more of its business clients look for ways to use their cloud provider of choice, the service provider enhanced NetBond ecosystem, which grew to 13 members providing access to 18 major cloud services. NetBond ecosystem members include a mix of network infrastructure, colocation, and cloud provider partners such as IBM, AWS, Equinix and Digital Realty.

AT&T also introduced the CSC Agility Platform providing users more control over their hybrid networks.
