AT&T adds Music Choice TV, SWRV to U-verse TV lineup

AT&T (NYSE: T) U-verse users will soon be able to access more commercial free music as the telco has added both Music Choice to its TV channel lineup through a unique TV application and SWRV, an interactive music video network.

With the Music Choice app, users will be able to choose from 46 Music Choice stations, and listen to various types of commercial free music 24 hours a day. Designed to increase ease of use, the new Music Choice app allows U-verse TV U200 and above customers on one single interactive app available on channel 500 for no additional charge.

Just the same, U-verse customers will be able to access SWRV's interactive programs, including SWRV Takeover, which lets the viewer create their own playlist of three videos and act as a virtual VJ. Like the Music Choice app, SWRV is also available on U-verse TV to U200 and above customers on channel 501 and in HD on channel 1501.

Adding interactive content-rich services like the Music Choice app and SWRV are a reflection of how AT&T is trying to add more value to its growing U-verse IPTV service to differentiate itself against cable competitors like Comcast, Cox and Charter that reside in its respective video serving regions. And because these service can be accessed at either the TV set or the smart phone, the service provider is playing into the desire by consumers to have their applications and content available regardless of their current location.
