AT&T says SDN transition will enhance the diversity of its vendor relationships

AT&T (NYSE: T) has set an ambitious timeline to transform over 75 percent of its network to software by the year 2020 using SDN. But as it makes that transition, the telco told attendees at this week's rebranded PCIA show that it will be able to increase the number of network suppliers it works with today.

Susan Johnson, senior vice president of global supply chain for AT&T, said that the telco has worked in recent years to increase diversity among its partners, focusing on companies owned by members of one of four groups: women, minorities, service-disabled veterans and, most recently, LGBT.
