AT&T sues Brightlink over unpaid VoIP resale charges
AT&T (NYSE: T) has sued Brightlink Communications, an Atlanta-based wholesale telecommunications provider, claiming that it owes AT&T over $467,000 in unpaid charges for VoIP services that it provided to Brightlink to resell to its customers.
In the suit, which was filed on April 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, AT&T said that it billed Brightlink $1.2 million between Jan. 2011 to Jul. 2012, adding that Brightlink did not make any payments until Oct. 2011.
Despite negotiating a payment plan with the competitive wholesale provider to pay past due charges, Brightlink did not "honor" the agreement.
After not being able to reach an agreement with Brightlink, AT&T has disconnected the service and is asking for the remaining balance it is owed in addition to interest and related attorney's fees.
AT&T did not respond to an e-mail asking for information about the case.
